Apart from Southern Bay Race Week in early June on Steve Taylor's thread, we are working on 3 events to kick off the northern-ish season for April and May.  The dates for 2 of the 3 events are known:

Annapolis NOOD: April 30-May 2 (TBD if the Vipers get special dispensation to only race Saturday-Sunday to accommodate travelers)

Viper Atlantic Coast Champs: May 22-23 @ Eastport YC

The third event, which will likely be prior to Annapolis NOOD, is a Clini-Regatta - one day of clinic, one day of regatta - the format is meant to help newer Viper sailors in the Chesapeake and also introduce prospective owners and crews to the boat.  We're hoping that North Sails pros and Viper experts Zeke Horowitz and Austin Powers will be available for coaching, and also that other teams from outside the area will come and bring their boats (but not their crews) to let new teams sail the boat (with the owner being the middle crew to coach and get sails up and down - any new sailors would otherwise have experience in other boats - we've done this format before in Larchmont and it works well as long as it is not blowing 20+ knots - a good middle crew can make anyone else look good, esp. in a less intense format).

Storage in between events should be available at the Iliff Farm - outside chance of some SSA support but J70 NAs are in Annapolis in between all of the events, so mast-up storage at a club may be a challenge.

One of the goals of the clini-gatta will be to continue the excellent work by our dear friend Geoff Ewenson in growing the Viper Fleet in Annapolis and to continue his legacy to pay it forward and get new people involved.  Great Scott! will be part of the clini-gatta and plans to do the entire circuit.  We hope others on the east coast who may be reluctant to get on a plane for other events down south will be more comfortable driving to Annapolis and that there will be more folks with vaccines by then - any pre or post race socializing will otherwise be outdoors and reasonably distanced, and all sailors will be required to wear masks.

More details to follow as they become available, but please save the dates in the meantime.

Registration is now open for Annapolis NOOD.  https://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=13226

The Clini-Gatta will be the weekend before the NOOD to help get everyone off to a fast start.  There should be storage available at EYC in between the Clini-Gatta and the NOOD at minimum.

11 boats now signed up for ACCs.  My guess is that we'll end up with 15-18 on the starting line for ACCs, which would be a great start to the 2021 east coast season.
